In the SOI Spirit!

SOI aims to make learning accessible, tangible, and profoundly relevant for our participants, and you’re critical to making it happen. This experience can be a catalyst for youth and can shape future actions and decisions as global citizens.

Our team is made up of folks with diverse expertise and contributions, and we value both formal and informal opportunities to connect, share, and inspire youth—and it is often in the informal, unstructured moments that connecting to youth is the most impactful. Whether it’s during meal times, breaks, or travel, these moments are invaluable for sharing, connecting with, and inspiring all our young participants. We encourage you to embrace the value you bring as a role model!

We also recognize the power of learning from our participants. Regardless of age, we are both students and teachers, and we encourage you to remain open to the incredible lessons that the youth will undoubtedly share during our journey together.

Get ready for an inspiring experience, where you’ll both inspire and be inspired!

The SOI Approach

SOI expedition’s focus on experiential learning through connection with people, places, and each other. Our approach focuses on the importance of blending Indigenous Knowledge and Western science. As an educator, you will have the opportunity to help participants make connections between what they experience and the larger challenges and opportunities shaping their future. This is an opportunity to model curiosity, critical thinking, and adaptability as you connect youth with the land, water, and communities we will travel to.
