Why mentorship matters

Mentorship involves having someone – a mentor – advise and guide you as you move through your studies or your career. In a growing sector like the Sustainable Blue Economy, a mentor can help connect you with people within the ocean and water sectors and can open doors that lead to opportunities. Becoming a mentor can be a highly rewarding experience as you develop leadership skills and gain a personal sense of satisfaction from knowing that you have guided someone else. Whether you’re a student trying to figure out your next steps, a graduate seeking employment, or you are simply exploring opportunities within the ocean or water sectors, a mentor can share what they’ve learned from their own journey, and help you navigate yours.

Become a mentor

We’re looking for all sorts of people working across the ocean and water sectors in Canada, who are excited to connect with youth ages 18 to 35 and provide mentorship as they navigate pathways. You can be at any stage in your own journey and your role can be flexible.

Blue Futures Pathways Mentorship Program

The Blue Futures Pathways mentorship program has three streams:

  • Peer-to-peer support for youth aged 18-35
  • Mentoring students aged 18-35
  • Mentoring graduates aged 18-35
