Driven by growing momentum towards a nature-positive world, the SOI Foundation is entering a period of significant growth as we expand and diversify our youth-focused programming. We are now looking for a talented, proactive individual who is seeking to grow within the organization in the role of a Financial Accountant.

As the Financial Accountant, you will assist with the running of overall financial operations. You will provide accurate information, as required, to the Team Leads from other departments by preparing monthly financial reports. You will have exceptional organizational skills and will have experience performing daily accounting tasks and contributing to the continuous improvement of financial systems; including maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures. You take a proactive approach to meeting demands and identifying needs. Your ability to multitask and your excellent communication skills (oral & written) set you apart.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Perform daily accounting operations including journal entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and statutory reporting;
  • Perform bookkeeping, transactional and administrative tasks related to purchases, receipts, sales, and payments;
  • Provide accurate and timely financial information; 
  • Generate performance reports against budgets;
  • Work with Team Leads and external partners on financial reporting for funders.

 

Character profile & key competencies

  • Post-Secondary degree in a finance, business or a related field;
  • At least 5 years of previous accounting experience, with an emphasis on practical working knowledge of the day-to-day financial operations of a business;
  • Intimate knowledge of QuickBooks Online and Excel; Knowledge of Google Drive suite an asset;
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in data entry and analysis;
  • Organized and efficient multi-tasker with the ability to work independently;
  • Adaptable to change, diplomatic and patient with a positive outlook;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; bilingualism in English/French would be an asset.

  • You must be fully permitted to live and work in Canada.

 

Job Type

  • Full-time role, hybrid office/home

 

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive salary, commensurate with experience
  • 34 hr work week (Friday afternoon’s off)
  • Casual dress;
