Sailing from Iceland to Greenland, this exciting journey will have a team of SOI youth and educators exploring themes of history, culture, climate change and sustainability with an emphasis on amplifying youth perspectives and voices.
The expedition will engage youth participants in activities focused on the interconnectedness of Arctic ecosystems and human activity. Participants will gain a first-hand understanding of issues such as climate change, cultural resilience, biodiversity, and sustainable development in the Arctic. Youth will also better understand the intersection of Indigenous Knowledge and scientific research that informs conservation efforts, policy decisions, and community-led initiatives. And we’ll see lots of icebergs, geysers, glaciers, and maybe even a few Blue whales!
Through visiting northern communities, participants will gain a deeper appreciation for the Arctic’s dynamic landscapes and people, leaving them inspired, motivated, and equipped with new perspectives and ideas for their future.
