Join the North-to-North Journey

Are you a Nordic youth ready to help shape the future of the Arctic? The Students on Ice Foundation and the Nordic Council of Ministers are bringing Nordic and global youth together on a fully funded North-to-North expedition from Nuuk to Iqaluit from July 6-22, 2026. This is your opportunity to join us on a journey across the Arctic to learn about Arctic policy and governance, climate change, biodiversity, and sustainable communities through collaboration grounded in trust, equality, inclusion, and sustainability.

Are you between 18 and 26? Are you a citizen of a Nordic Country (Denmark, Finland, the Faroe Islands, Greenland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, or the Åland Islands)? Do you want to represent Nordic priorities, strengthen cooperation across the North, and help shape a more sustainable future?

This is your opportunity! Apply now to be considered for 1 of 15 scholarships provided by the Nordic Council of Ministers!

Youth Participant Philosophy

Youth participants must demonstrate that they want to participate for the right reasons. This is not a vacation experience. It is a learning journey that requires time, energy, passion and interest, that begins before the expedition through pre-learning content, and continues after the expedition as a member of a global group of SOI Alumni. Our expedition team is made up of all kinds of youth. Our expedition programs strive to achieve diversity across gender, race/ethnicity, and geography, with a particular focus on Indigenous, Black, and under-represented youth. We have youth who have found their path and are looking to connect with like-minded people, and those who are searching for some direction and need a spark to get going. The diversity of our team creates magic within the program.
