Arctic Inspiration:
Join us at the Canadian Museum of Nature this July as we launch our 2026 expedition season! We’re embarking on two transformative youth expeditions with about 200 youth, educators, researchers, Indigenous Knowledge Holders, artists, and policy leaders from across the Arctic and around the world.
This special public launch event will feature remarks from SOI’s founder, Geoff Green, alumni, members of the 2026 expedition teams, and special guests.
In partnership with the Arctic Council, Nordic Council of Ministers, and Global Affairs Canada, SOI’s 2026 season begins with the North-to-North Expedition from Nuuk, Greenland, to Iqaluit, Nunavut. This expedition celebrates the 30th anniversaries of both the Arctic Council and the Nordic Arctic Programme of the Nordic Council of Ministers by connecting youth from across the Nordic region, Canada, and beyond to explore Arctic governance, environmental stewardship, sustainable development, and resilient northern communities.
The season continues with the 2026 SOI Arctic Expedition, an immersive learning journey focused on ocean science, biodiversity, climate change, Arctic cultures and histories, and the interconnected health of northern ecosystems and communities.
Both expeditions, which the United Nations endorses as official actions of the Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development, will sail aboard the ice-class expedition vessel MV Ocean Nova.
